Teams were frequently recreating work, resulting in inconsistent experiences across marketing, digital products, retail, packaging, and partner channels.OpportunityCreate a unified visual language supported by centralized brand guidelines, a scalable design system, shared Figma libraries, and a governance model that could align teams, accelerate production, and support future multi-brand growth. surfaces, light and dark mode, buttons, and controls Unified iconography and illustration systems with shared libraries and governance Photography and rendering standards Motion principles and guidanceProduct architecture, sub-brand identities, and launch frameworks for consumer, B2B, Smart Security (SaaS), and partner co-branding Together, these foundations created a cohesive visual connected platforms. Brand PlatformA centralized source of truth for Brand, Marketing, and Sales teams that consolidated brand strategy, identity standards, messaging guidance, visual assets, B2B frameworks, partner guidelines, templates, photography, video resources, and implementation tools into a single living resource. Design SystemA scalable framework that aligned brand and product experiences through shared principles, accessible foundations, reusable patterns, and co-branding standards. As ecobee and Generac explored deeper integration, the system established a foundation for future multi-brand experiences while preserving the distinct identity of each brand. GovernanceTo ensure long-term success, we introduced governance processes that supported adoption, maintenance, and continuous evolution. Multiple logos existed for the Canadian Olympic Committee and Canadian Olympic Team, with unclear guidance for the Canadian Olympic Foundation and supporting programs. At the same time, the organization was expanding across digital products, athlete storytelling, fundraising, education, partner activations and live experiences. The existing guidelines no longer reflected the scale or complexity of the brand. Opportunity Create a unified brand platform that could bring the organization together, simplify how the identity was used and support everything from everyday communications to Olympic Games experiences. Role As Lead Designer, I helped shape the Be Olympic brand platform and led the evolution of Team Canada’s visual identity and visual language. The refreshed visual language included typography, colour, iconography, pictograms, illustration, photography and motion. Digital guidelines, accessible design standards and governance helped teams apply the brand consistently while leaving room for different audiences, programs and moments. Campaigns &amp; Communications The platform extended across marketing campaigns, athlete storytelling, fundraising, partnerships, publications, presentations, social media and video. Flexible templates and toolkits allowed teams and partners to create tailored communications while maintaining a recognizable Team Canada presence. Digital &amp; Experiences The visual language was brought to life through a refresh of Olympic.ca, the Team Canada mobile app, environmental graphics, events and Games-time experiences. The platform provided a consistent foundation across digital and physical touchpoints while adapting to the distinct character of each Olympic Games. Creative Enablement I also helped establish a centralized Creative Services function, introducing shared briefing, project intake, governance and resource-planning processes. Standardized templates, reusable assets and Asana project management gave teams greater visibility and made it easier to manage a growing volume of work. <img width="2880" height="1620" width_o="2880" The work established a flexible visual language and a foundation of reusable components that could support the McMichael’s evolving content and audiences. Guided by a “let the art lead” philosophy, the website paired an airy, minimal aesthetic with flexible colour palettes inspired by the artwork. A modular component library allowed pages to be customized, rearranged and expanded while maintaining consistency, while a masonry grid and adaptable image sizes preserved the proportions of each artwork and minimized cropping. Building from the agency’s campaign direction, I developed Team Canada’s Games toolkit, guidelines and modular assets for use across broadcast, social, digital, editorial, print, events, athlete village environments and fan experiences. I also created flexible templates and motion-ready assets that helped internal teams quickly produce Games-time content while maintaining consistency. Alongside this work, I led the design of the Beijing 2022 hub across Olympic.ca and the Team Canada app, creating a personalized, mobile-first destination for fans. to life. Working closely with internal teams and partners, I helped establish how the two brands would work together across athlete apparel, marketing, and communications, while providing creative direction for the Beijing 2022 Olympic kit and supporting applications. Grounded in the Be Olympic brand platform, the approach balanced bold Team Canada expressions for Games-time moments with more understated, lifestyle-driven executions that could extend beyond the Olympic window. 14:59:51 +0000 Designmarc https://designmarc.ca/BC-2030 BC 2030 Visual Identity &amp; Communications Toolkit Independent Designer Led by the Four Host First Nations, the BC 2030 Feasibility Team brought together municipal, Olympic and Paralympic partners to explore a potential Winter Games bid. The initiative needed an identity that could introduce the vision, build momentum and honour the legacy of Vancouver 2010. Working in collaboration with leaders from the Lil’wat, Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, I helped develop an inclusive and accessible visual identity rooted in the land and the communities leading the initiative. At its centre was a symbol of four interwoven rocks representing the Four Host First Nations, unity and renewal. An earth-inspired colour palette and typography supporting both Latin and Indigenous language characters completed the visual language. The identity extended across the website, video, social media and print. A flexible toolkit of logos, typography, colour and graphic elements supported a fast rollout while giving the feasibility team a consistent foundation for future communications.
