ecobee
Design Director/
Principal Graphic Designer
ecobee required a refreshed visual identity and scalable design system to unify its brand across hardware, software, marketing, and partner integrations—including its parent company, Generac.

I led the brand identity refresh, brand guidelines, and visual language for the multi-brand design system, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and scalability across ecobee’s ecosystem.

The refreshed brand identity and design system strengthened brand recognition, improved design efficiency, increased revenue, and enhanced user experience—successfully positioning ecobee for growth.

Visual Identity: Refined the wordmark for improved legibility with variable weights, ensuring visual consistency across different sizes and modes (light/dark).

Visual Identity: Enhanced identity marks, typography, color palette, iconography, motion, photography, and illustration styles for a more distinct and cohesive brand presence.

Brand Guidelines: Designed and led the development of a new online platform housing the refreshed brand guidelines, visual assets, photography, campaign materials, and marketing templates.

Visual Assets & Libraries: Standardized a unified visual language across marketing, dotcom, and product applications, including a typography style sheet, comprehensive color palette, and an optimized icon and illustration system in Figma.

Multi-Brand Design System: Developed a co-branding system to integrate ecobee and Generac, ensuring seamless application across products and digital experiences in both light and dark modes.

Cross-Department Impact: Unified brand expression across marketing, campaigns, digital, product, HR, manufacturing, and sales touchpoints.

New Product Launches: Led the design of all touchpoints for the highly successful launches of the Smart Doorbell and Smart Thermostat Essential, including product marks, packaging, marketing, and digital assets.
